From the Principal
MPPS prides itself on its welcoming atmosphere, inclusive practices and a philosophy that allows all students to feel valued. Every face has a place at Mossgiel Park! Teachers have high expectations of behaviour & achievement in academic, creative and sporting endeavours. A strong focus on literacy & numeracy means all students get the best start possible. Situated in outer urban Melbourne at Endeavour Hills, MPPS facilities include Art, EAL and Reading Recovery rooms; an ICT lab, a well-resourced library, a music room, and two gyms. Blessed with extensive grounds, the children enjoy three separate playgrounds, purpose designed for their age, a soccer pitch, softball diamond, football oval and cricket nets. The large asphalted areas include two basketball/netball courts, ball courts, Bike Education markings and play areas. The children have also worked with community groups to develop the environmental Frog Pond area, the "Japanese Garden" reflective learning space, the 'hen house' and the vegetable gardens. These, along with our existing facilities, enhance the high quality of education that continues to be offered within the walls of our school.
Originally a large suburban school, the current enrolment is small enough to ensure that all the children are well known while being big enough to enable a full array of quality programs. Many students travel to attend Mossgiel Park Primary as a 'school of choice'. We offer many support programs to alleviate disadvantage due to our high intake of students with English as a second language, high levels of transience and welfare needs. MPPS is an accredited eSafe school. Students and teachers work to extend their understanding of new and exciting technologies while becoming responsible digital citizens. Our innovative environmental programs and our robust social and wellbeing programs, help connect children to our school and to the wider community.
At MPPS, students, parents, and teachers share values of respect, acceptance of others; compassion and caring; honesty; persistence and determination; responsibility, and cooperation. We are committed to providing a child-centred curriculum that emphasises success, challenge and enjoyment in learning. We attribute our successful outcomes to the professionalism and hard work of our staff, our can-do attitude, and our consistent focus on literacy, numeracy and student engagement and wellbeing. We have a very experienced teaching workforce and an exceptional team of Education Support Staff.
Mossgiel Park is very proud of its achievements and excited about all that the future has to offer.
Thank you for supporting our school.
